For those of you who have accepted our invitation and are planning to attend one of our house concerts, here are a few things to you need to know:

Our address is 8223 75th Avenue NW (Oronoco, MN 55960) which is Northwest of Rochester near the (very) small town of Douglas. (Please note that 75th Avenue NW is a gravel road.) Our house number is on both the mailbox and the cedar fence that borders our driveway. If you need a map or directions, here is a link to Google Maps that will help you find us. (The map coordinates are set to the location of our house so directions will lead you down our driveway and not leave you out on the gravel road.)

When you can see the house, you should encounter some signs directing you to the main parking area but if not, it's the open grass field between the orchard/garden and our shed. There are a few other spots that you can park but if the obvious parking spots are full, consider parking along the right side of the driveway as you head back out towards the road. This will make it will be easier for everyone to leave after the party and allows room for cars to get in and out.

We open the doors 60 to 90 minutes before the show so we can visit with our friends, old and new. We ask that everyone consider bringing a little "grazing food" to share as this will complement the hot appetizers we will be providing. Plan on getting here when the doors open so you can socialize and enjoy the food! During the music feel free to wander around to socialize, eat, take breaks, etc., but try not to be a distraction :)

Remember to bring your own beverage(s) and yes, alcoholic drinks are welcome, we just ask that you drink responsibly. There is always a wine tasting table set up for those who are interested and we share some of the “Camp Dave Winery” vintages so bring one (or two) of your own favorite bottles to add to the selection.

Here are a few other tips and guidelines for those attending:

  • You may want to bring a lawn chair if you are interested in sitting ... we have limited seating available but you should not count on that when you're ready to rest your legs
  • It could be pretty dark when our evening shows are over, depending on cloud cover and stage of the moon ... if your car is at the far end of the parking area, you may find a small flashlight handy when you leave
  • Since this is Minnesota, it is quite possible that the mosquitoes will also decide to attend, so you might want to come prepared with your favorite repellant
  • If rain is in the forecast, an umbrella would be a good idea for walking to and from your car
  • Bring extra cash since it is normal for CDs to be sold at the show ... and you'll want take the music home
  • We will have separate containers set out for aluminum cans, glass bottles, plastic bottles and trash ... we recycle as much as possible to minimize the amount of trash that needs to be hauled away so please try and use the proper containers
  • We will have ash buckets strategically located away from the crowd for those who smoke so please use them ... and try to stay downwind of the crowd
  • Please turn off your cell phone and pager (or use vibrate only) ... if you need to be on your phone please do so away from the show
  • We have a cat wandering around outside the house so take an anti-histamine if you think you may need it
  • Please do not enter the house as we have portable toilets set up outside for you to use ... we usually have time to give you a tour if you request it
  • Try not to wander too far from the house at night ... we live in the middle of the woods and we don't have a search and rescue team (it can be really dark out there at night)
  • If you bring anything, e.g. chair, dishes, utensils, cooler, etc., don't forget to take your stuff home ... if you have your name on it, we can track you down if you do forget

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact us personally or by using our email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Thanks!
